WooHoo

1. Took daughter, niece and YoYo to a Purim Carnival.
2. Went to Rena's engagement party yesterday.
3. Husband threw me a SURPRISE BIRTHDAY PARTY!!

He did it all himself. He invited my friends (went through my phone). He didn't invite EB because he wasn't sure EB's real name...guess you know how I keep names in my phone :-) He also didn't feel comfortable to ask for EB! Good thing too, because I think it is her husbands cell phone!) He decorated the house. He made a fruit salad. He cut up cheese and crackers. He thought of everything!

I am so happy. It felt nice coming home and being surprised.

Happy Early 30th Birthday to me.

Random Thoughts

Mazel Tov!! I am so happy to hear that a friend of mine is engaged! It is great news! And I love that you called me!! Email me info and I will try to make it the engagement party!

It is bitter cold outside.

A month ago we were complaining about how warm it was for January and that Global Warming is going to kill us. Now we have this cold front coming in from good ol' Canada.

A friend of mine in town had a baby girl after two boys. Based on a misunderstood conversation, her husband went out to buy food for Sunday and Monday Night. I felt horrible. So much for the chessed of the town. I immediately called her and left her a message that she will be having meals sent for the next two weeks, and possibly more. I went straight to work. I called my classmates from High School who live in town, and incorporated them to make food for her. I then called another friend and she knew some people who would say yes. Then I pulled some rabbits out of a hat and stretched the connection. "Oh, you know her sister, and I know you...so can you make food." or, "your husband davens at this minyan and so does her husband, and I know you, can you make food?" Boruch Hashem these people were like, "sure!" "tell me when!". I tried to make sure that meals were not all dairy, dairy dairy dairy, meat. I tried to alternate, even giving them two meats in a row (which I think they might prefer). She was so grateful that I managed to pull this off. I got to do Shabbos, when I am not home for one meal! But, will figure it out and I do have to cook for the other meal, so why not add some more to it.

I owe you a story about Friday. I will write that another time, maybe.

18 Years

18 years.
A long short 18 years.
So many memories.
So many tears.

I was a young girl at that time. Not Bas Mitzvahed yet. A young one in Seventh grade. And.then.it.happened. Shattered my world. Destroyed my innocence. Threw me into the reality. No more living in a bubble. A shock. A tragedy. I was little. Being a bas zakayn is never easy.

He was old. He was sick. He needed to go. He had a rough life. His time was up. He wanted to go. He did not want to fight any more. So, he left.

Hashem had mercy on him.

Motzei Shabbos. Right after Tu B Shvat.

I was not home.

I did not get to say good-bye. I did not get to have one last kiss. One last hug. One last conversation.

I did have that extra sense the few days before. I knew something was going to happen. I did not know it was going to be a permanent something.

18 years has passed.

My life has gone on without him. His has not.

I have grown up. I married. I brought in a new generation.

I miss him.
I love him.
I think of him constantly.

18 years is a long time. I am not that old.

18 short years. Seems like yesterday.
